YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SQUAD

Coach: Zoe Cowan

To become part of our Youth Development squads, swimmers should be able to train effectively over 3 or 4 strokes, across a range of modes and intensities. Members should also be willing to listen, learn and follow instruction.

Our Youth Development squads aim to:

  • Develop fitness and speed in a challenging and progressive training environment
  • Encourage those that wish to compete to do so at the highest possible level
  • Retain members in Club Swimming at RDASC

The average age of swimmers in Youth Development 2 tends to be between13 to 17 years (age as at December 31st). In Youth Development 1, swimmers tend to be aged between 11 and 15 Years (age as at December 31st). Youth Development swimmers will enjoy a diverse programme of training that includes:

  • Medley based, 50m and 100m orientated training
  • Supplementary training on kick, pull, dolphin kick, maximal speed and stroke skills
  • Improving Stroke Technique and Skills towards a County/Regional Level

As with our other squads, in Youth Development we aim to provide a cohesive and disciplined training environment, whilst encouraging a real enjoyment of club swimming.  We ask that our swimmers:

  • Train at the prescribed density and intensity for the group
  • Have a willingness to learn and improve
  • Be a great team member
