The Board of Richmond Dales ASC are delighted to announce that Christine Golightly will be joining the ranks of our Licenced Officials at the club with immediate effect.
Christine is a referee with many years experience officiating at competitions from Level 4 Meets to international competitions.
Christine is about to embark on what she describes as the “highest achievement” of her officiating career having been selected to officiate at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Christine started officiating over 23 years ago, like many of our volunteers, when her daughter started swimming. She has spent countless weekends on poolside, and just like our other referees and officials, has the ethos of supporting the athlete and putting the swimmer first.
Christine has also spent two years as Northumberland & Durham and North East Regional President.
Christine says :-
“Thank you so much for the lovely welcome. I am very much looking forward to continuing my time as an referee with Richmond Dales.
During my journey I have made some great new & lifelong friends in the swimming world and have enjoyed my many years as a volunteer and official. I would genuinely encourage any parent or carer to step forward and become involved. It is a truly rewarding experience and one you won’t regret.”
Our Chairman, Steve Jones said :-
“As Chair of RDASC I very much welcome Christine Golightly to our club. I have know Christine for a number of years and have her to thank for training me up to be a swimming official, with her running both my Judge 1 and Judge 2 training courses.
As well as being a well respected swimming referee, Christine is a Senior IPC official who has officiated at many para swimming events at British & European levels and will be officiating at the Tokyo Paralympics this year.
Christine is a valuable asset to the club and I would like to thank her for becoming the latest member to our family”.
Christine joins John Flynn, Michelle Worthy & Kevin Rand as our referees and becomes one of our officials including Starters & Judge levels 1 & 2.
Thank you for joining us Christine, on behalf of all of our swimmers, coaches, parents & carers, Welcome to Richmond Dales ASC.
If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a licensed swimming official, please email and we will send you more information. Its a great way to give something back to the sport.
